Platformer Progress - More Maps and More Conceptualization

jonathanluitjens

Hey there, another week, another quick showcase of updates once again for you all, slowly getting to more of the game itself, but also working on the visuals for it, primarily setting the world itself up that he will be exploring, not 100% of the detail but at least the shape of it.

So far the world map itself in construct 3 is getting it's bigger landmass outside of the Isle of Moof (distance not to scale, they'd be further out, but it's a worldmap for ease to see.):

Making the shore first before lining the grass and other biome types in. The purple being almost a bit of the general shape before making the detail inside, though this shape isn't finalized yet, it gives an idea of scale.

The sketch itself going.. a bit sketch still, but it's got more detail to it at least, enough to get an idea going of a beta layout more or less.

Alongside the shape of the land, I'm also setting up a tilesheet for the map, even with custom mountains, the tiles so far being in the works, however they're different enough to hopefully look good.

Left being from an itch.io pack, the right being my attempt to make a different mountain for the new land.

the rest of the tiles in the works, but so far making specific pieces like purple grass for the Prisma Outskirts and City. Rocks being color edited to be golden/pyrite like their floors.

And both Prisma and the Isle of Moof alike have diagonal tiles now to better shape the island with.

Prisma will have a lot more biomes and weathers displayed than the Isle of Moof does, so Prisma will soon be using a LOT more tile types, I have some premade from the asset pack, but I will try to make higher detailed ones when needed to make the two of them more visually distinct as bodies of land.

The Maps aren't alone with concept, I don't remember if I showed em before but if I didn't I will now. Also trying to make some design for the base enemies which I am between two looks of.

One end could be cuter and keep the purple body with yellow eyes like they have been:

The other being eerier, black and white tones:

Both have pros and cons, so I don't quite know which I would go with.

Purple is more recognizable as their own creature, less a shadow, but may be harder to do in sprite form POTENTIALLY, not 100% sure of that but it has more detail to it so willing to bet it does.

Black and White is easier to do sprites of, more able to be pointed out in backgrounds due to using extreme darkness and extreme light, and creepier to match the fact the antagonist is a demon, but worry it could be less recognizable in style and more generic than slime based creatures already can be.

Unfortunately not much to game PLAY itself, more the map of the game and concept art, but I would like to feel any advancement is better than no advancement, so got that going for myself. As for future updates.. that only comes in time. So until next time.
