Project Updates and Side Projects

The end of the week has arrived, the first week, and for the time being, I get only further to completion with Spacewar! So far since the last post there has been a few additions and a fix or two, primarily I added a nice drifting movement to the ships, as well as sounds for them propelling forward, shooting, and when a ship has been hit before reset. Capturing could be a bit better, will later get video of both ships moving, but they DO both work the same way.

It progresses well, but it's also the first piece to the stairway to making much bigger projects and works, learning from experimentation is key. However, on the note of projects, there has been a little piece being worked on in the sidelines, for a long time I have wanted to learn to make games, so before joining I have experimented at least a little bit on sprites and self-teaching with Construct 2 on steam.

One piece was for a 2D platformer, and while working on touch ups for Spacewar! and making a design for the blog page we find ourselves in now, I've taken some liberty of adding to the old sprites I have done. Primarily a tile-set for a floor set into a city of crystals, Pyrite floor and Amethyst gem layers below leading into dirt and stone. It may not be much, but it's something that'll hopefully get somewhere. Each tile being a 64x64 box, allowing smaller and more explorable levels of detail to be put into each box.

Not much, but any progression IS good progression I like to feel. Only worry is making character animations for a platformer, it'll be a new experience, but I have high hopes it'll go well. Any and all updates only come with time however, so I will leave notices about these developments, until then, that'll be all for this entry.
