Concept Sketching - Level Backgrounds, and how to Worldbuild with Scenery.

Hello once again to everyone, a new post is among us and while I work to try to refine Moof more (some controls feel off and am trial-and-erroring ideas there), I wanted to bring attention to some more attempts of worldbuilding for the world Moof and others are found in.

For some of it, I am incorporating a bit of stuff explained in the past when I talked about concept sketching backgrounds for levels,

IE: making these into full 1024x boxed renderings,

last time this was mentioned I had about three of them done at the time.

ree

Well that's part of what I've been doing,

Prisma has backgrounds already fully done, so while the results will look like these,

ree

The sketches themselves take more of a look akin to this rougher sketched state.

Isle of Moof:

ree

With one WIP of a in-render background still needing refinement.

ree

This is the starting area and the homeland of the Moofs, taking place in the Sunset of Day 1, it is set at this time for emphasizing the topical atmosphere the Moofs call their home. Calm, pretty, nice on the eyes before getting to more detailed/extensive places.

Prisma Outskirts:

ree

Prisma is the first space right out of the Isle of Moof,

The instant whiplash tones meant to give the idea that each place will change rapidly due to the Moofs going down all districts this land has trying to find Ashra, starting at Night 1 to allow the lights of the buildings to pop out more at night, and the moonbeans to shine and highlight the dark caves softly.

(Unnamed) Snowy Peaks:

has one done bg so far where the current needs some adjusting, but the

other will be a bit trickier to apply, will show more later on.

ree

at the later end of Night 1 leading almost to the Dawn of Day 2, the Peaks are found outside the walls of Prisma's main city. Likely landing here by coincidence rather than planning, the Moofs will climb to the top anyways, and maybe find where to go with a helpful view at top.

(Unnamed) Forest and Abandoned Manor:

ree

The forest comes out not far off of the Mountain range when Moof launches himself outwards after checking the peak of the Mountain, Dawn of Day 2

maybe having an idea where Ashra is and using this path to get to where he seen her, but also finding a hidden population built within the wooded maze, making a beautiful view of sunbeams popping through the leaves onto these treetop houses, including a mansion long since abandoned as a cut-through to get closer where the houses are built near by for reasons to be unknown.

(ALSO Unnamed) Desert/Pyramid:

ree

Day 2, Noon to Sunset.

Behind Prisma City as the others are a loop around the land to scope Ashra down, the Desert would be the most unusual of the landmasses. Sand and Sandstone for the outside, with the inside being a pyramid showing unusual hieroglyphics where some seem to have the Moofs on them, as if the area itself should be at least partially familiar, but from long ago.

Might add Glass-like design into the area to give the look of rapid heat-flares

And Ashra's Airship, internal and external:

ree

Night 2, the finale

Having found the ship itself, this is where Ashra is fully confronted.

In her own technological homefield, everything is metal, they're high in the sky for riskier depths of vertical challenges, the only way is to keep going forward, and not look down.

The locations direct, it's making them in effect, some will be easier like ironically Ashra's ship due to the backgrounds being inside and outside of the same view, or the first background of the Isle of Moof having more water view to help with the middle row at least.

If I am someone of one thing it is a world-builder, I like to make everything connected, vibrant, and as lively as am able to. The hard part is going to be making them all in this rendered, colored, full detailed finish, but I WILL TRY and make it work anyways.

The coding is rough but visuals are my strongest aspect, I will keep working to line everything up and showing more as I do.

However, this will have to be all from me for now.
