Platformer Progress - Enemy Interaction in Development

Eyo everyone once again, I'm reporting again with even more Moof project development, this time around went from making the enemies move to making them able to be hurt and animated while doing so.

Right now my enemies can walk, bump into walls, and turn around with enough keyframes to convey the idea, but not enough to exactly have it be smooth and look good.

And while those are still needing to be worked on, I thought I should get at least the key functions of my assets made before polishing them visually, so I went into the interactions of being stepped on.

I'm currently working on the sound effect itself, but got the unedited dodgeball sound effect placeholder in the meantime so that something will play when they're stepped on.

The initial stomp down launches Moof a bit into the air as well, this means he can either use them to get a bit more distance if bouncing off mid-air enemies like winged ones or enemies that jump, or chain bounces outright.. provided I make air controls a bit better to make it easier to do these, which opens the idea of bounce chain bonuses like how the Crash Bandicoot games have, where bouncing on enemies in a chain give wumpa fruit and 1-ups or other bonuses like higher bounces the higher the chain or something.

If running with the combo bounce idea this also allows some enemies to be able to help achieve multiple bounces at the same time, the number of which able to be balanced around depending on wether I use said chain to get items, or vertical boost, where one enemy could take 2 bounces to take out, so is able to provide 2 bounces to the total.

The damage system on the enemies still aren't done yet, I still need to add the effect when stomping on a goo creature, the bounce chain counter and bonus itself, most likely tweak Moof's air controls to make a few things easier alongside enemy bouncing, and the ability for them to hurt Moof back in general.. Oh, and the not-placeholder sound effects for the stomp.

If all goes well I will have a great lot of that to update about soon enough, but that's something to be figured out in due time, so that'll be all for now, will keep in touch as it develops.
